
Myra Goodman Smith
Board Member
Myra Goodman Smith is a recognized expert and leader in nonprofit management and governance. She is currently a consultant, providing advice and support to CEOs, Board Chairs, and their members. Myra served as the President and CEO of Leadership Metro Richmond for 15 years, having taught hundreds of leaders to be more impactful and effective in their service. Before her role at LMR, she spent 23 years as a Vice President at United Way, where she led initiatives in research, planning, grantmaking, program development, fundraising, governance, and operations.
For decades, Myra has delivered presentations, conducted workshops, and advised leaders on effective management and governance practices. Throughout her extensive community service, she has held numerous key offices and leadership positions on boards. Myra is skilled at building connections and fostering relationships across all sectors of the community.
She has received several awards in recognition of her contributions to leadership and the nonprofit sector, including accolades from Virginia Business Magazine, the Times Dispatch, the YWCA, Richmond Magazine, and Virginia Lawyers Weekly. Myra holds a degree in Urban Studies and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Virginia Commonwealth University. She lives in Amelia County, is married, and is a proud mother and grandmother.
