History of the Clinic
In the summer of 2007, Connie Moslow, a community health activist, approached the Powhatan/Chesterfield Health Department, the Powhatan County Board of Supervisors, and small group of citizens to discuss the idea of establishing a free clinic that would provide medical services to the uninsured, low-income adult residents of the County. The idea was embraced by all. In the fall of 2007, the Bon Secours Care-A-Van began visiting Powhatan County monthly. From her vision and with the assistance of numerous organizations and community residents, the Free Clinic of Powhatan was established in September 2008 at its present location within the Powhatan County Health Department facility.
